getting closer:
too early - decided to go to the zojoji temple next door first. passed a shrine on the way:
and a gloomy deserted pond in front of another temple so gloomy i did not dare to take its pictures:
unfortunately by the time i reach zojoji temple, it's already closed, so i could only see the exteriors... and anyway i would need a guide because i completely do not understand the culture. like this:
and this:
after googling, i found out that these tiny statues are called jizou, guardian of children who died before their parents. looking at the number of statues.. it's so sad:
anyway, trekking back up to tokyo tower:
and there's another shrine at the observatory deck:
a view of the tokyo sky tree, the newer and taller tokyo tower, which unfortunately won't be open until 2012:
tokyo bay (i think):
my apartment:
'paradise kiss' tokyo tower:
stayed until twilight but didn't get any nice night view. i think the daytime view is much better.
anyway, there is this vending machine where you can buy a medal memorabilia. so you buy the medal first, and you insert it to the machine to the left, which will hammer in today's date for 50 yen. of course, i was too stingy to get one.
some interesting things they sell at the memorabilia shops:
stones - small cup 525 yen, big cup 1,050 yen:
tons of hello kitty cellphone trinkets (and tons of other hello kitty stuffs):
and they're apparently having an oktoberfest thing (in september):
last look:
bye, tower. (i have a feeling i will visit again before i leave tokyo..)
